Q2 CLE Big Fish section October 2014

Read and make a reflection paper on BIG FISH section – October 2014 volume.

Think about it
What does the statement “To God be the Glory” mean to you?

My reflections: This statement means that when I have successful achievements or wonderful experiences, I should credit and give glory to God for these. As the Bible says:
(Psalm 75:1) We give thanks to you, O God, we give thanks to you; Your name is near, And people declare your wondrous works.
(Psalm 106:1) Praise Jah! Give thanks to Jehovah, for he is good; His loyal love endures forever.

What are the harvests that the Lord wants you to share with the rest of His Kingdom?

My reflections: The “harvests” here refer to the good news of the Kingdom which Jesus commands his followers to preach, as Matthew 24:14 states:
And this good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

With this good news, Christians are also to make known the founder of the Kingdom – Jesus’ father whose name is Jehovah:
(Psalm 83:18) May people know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth.
(Matthew 22:36-40) 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 He said to him: “‘You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and first commandment. 39 The second, like it, is this: ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments the whole Law hangs, and the Prophets.”

Think about it
What kind of Catholic are you? Are you the don’t-have-time-to-hear-Mass Catholic? Or the type that actively participates? Or is your attention elsewhere even if you are at the Mass?

Examine your intention as you attend this Sunday’s Mass.

My reflections: I am a Christian Jehovah’s Witness. As one, I attend religiously five meetings every week in our place of worship called Kingdom Hall. What are our meetings like?

From the brochure, Who are Doing Jehovah’s Will Today? published in 2012 by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc. (Brooklyn, New York, USA):

“Early Christian meetings consisted mainly of songs, prayers, and the reading and discussing of the Scriptures—all free of any ritual. (1 Corinthians 14:26) You can expect something very similar at our meetings.

“The instruction is Bible-based and practical. On the weekend, each congregation meets to hear a 30-minute Bible discourse on how the Scriptures relate to our lives and to the times we live in. All of us are encouraged to follow along in our own Bible. After the discourse, there is a one-hour “Watchtower” Study, in which members of the congregation are welcome to participate in a discussion of an article from the study edition of The Watchtower. This discussion helps us to apply the Bible’s guidance in our lives. The same material is studied in every one of our more than 100,000 congregations earth wide.

“We are helped to improve our teaching skills. We also meet together on a midweek evening for a three-part program. First is the 30-minute Congregation Bible Study, a question-and-answer discussion that deepens our understanding of Scriptural principles and Bible prophecy. Next, the 30-minute Theocratic Ministry School begins with a discussion of a portion of the Bible that the congregation has read in advance. Then students who are enrolled in the school give short presentations. A counselor makes observations in order to help us improve our reading and speaking skills. (1 Timothy 4:13) Lastly, in the 30-minute Service Meeting, by means of talks, presentations, and interviews, we learn how to teach the Bible to others.

“When you attend our meetings, you will no doubt be impressed by the quality of Bible education that you are receiving.—Isaiah 54:13.”

During our meetings, except in the Bible discourse, I actively participate in all kinds of worship. I also zealously join in our Kingdom preaching and Bible teaching work. Doing these for Jehovah makes me happy.

Think about it
How will you feel if you become FISH magazine’s next cover model? What impression will you leave behind as people see on the pages of this Catholic magazine?

My reflections: I would be flattered for the offer but because I am not a Catholic, I may not accept the offer.

Even as a teenager, I have already a certain level of understanding of the Bible and its teachings. More importantly, I know, worship and love the author of the Bible, Jehovah.

Because of my love for Jehovah God, I have set aside monthly, at least 70 hours of my young life to preaching and teaching work – as a regular pioneer.

From the brochure, Who are Doing Jehovah’s Will Today? published in 2012 by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc. (Brooklyn, New York, USA):

What Is a Pioneer?
“The term “pioneer” often refers to those who explore new territories and open up a way for others to follow. Jesus was a pioneer of sorts, having been sent to the earth to perform a life-giving ministry and to open the way to salvation. (Matthew 20:28) Today, his followers are imitating him by spending as much time as possible ‘making disciples.’ (Matthew 28:19, 20) Some have been able to take up what we call the pioneer service.
“A pioneer is a full-time evangelizer. All of Jehovah’s Witnesses are publishers of the good news. However, some have organized their life to serve as regular pioneers, spending 70 hours each month in the preaching work. To do this, many limit their secular work to part-time.
“A pioneer is motivated by love for God and for people. Like Jesus, we notice the desperate spiritual condition that many find themselves in today. (Mark 6:34) But we have knowledge that can help them right now, giving them a solid hope for the future. Love of neighbor motivates a pioneer to give generously of his time and energy to help others spiritually. (Matthew 22:39; 1 Thessalonians 2:8) As a result, his faith is strengthened, he draws closer to God, and he experiences much happiness.—Acts 20:35.”

When I give my time sincerely and willingly in service to Jehovah God, I know that He doesn’t ignore this service. It is precious to Him. He blesses me not only materially, mentally and emotionally but most importantly, spiritually.

I read this in one of our publications: “Throughout the Scriptures the emphasis is placed, not on the possession of material riches, but on a good standing with Jehovah God, a standing that is maintained by a person’s continuing to do the divine will by faith. Christ Jesus encouraged others to be “rich toward God” (Luke 12:21) and to store up “treasures in heaven.” (Matthew 6:20; Luke 12:33) An individual’s record of fine works would be like riches deposited with the Creator in heaven, assuring lasting blessings for the one concerned. Persons who became spirit-anointed followers of Jesus Christ could look forward to “the glorious riches” of a heavenly inheritance (Ephesians 1:18), and during their ‘alien residence’ on earth, they would be rich or abound in faith, love, goodness, and other godlike qualities.”

You are created in the image of God. May people see the Lord and His goodness in you.

My reflections: According to Genesis 1: 26-28: And God went on to say: “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness, and let them have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and the domestic animals and all the earth and every moving animal that is moving upon the earth.” 27 And God proceeded to create the man in his image, in God’s image he created him; male and female he created them. 28 Further, God blessed them and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth and subdue it, and have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and every living creature that is moving upon the earth.”

In this verse, we learn that God really made all things, even the simplest one.

As a creation of God, I should respect and obey the rules He wants me to do. I am a child of God. As such, I should be an obedient child of His. <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3

What kind of love do you have for the people around you?

Love truthfully and honestly. Love without conditions.

My reflections: For me, these words would be a good reminder for married couples and for all family members. When you love someone, it’s not because it’s just a dare or something, but because you look at him/her as the person you want to be with, whom you can trust and who will also give you reason to live (aside of course from God).
